When I was a kid we spent the whole month of October making things. Tissue paper ghosts for the windows, pipe cleaner spiders for the front yard, intricately carved pumpkins for the porch and homemade, contest-winning costumes. Evenings were spent listening to scary stories as we worked on our projects.
