Using a combination of two great, low cost services, I can add an online payment system to any website. PayPal is not involved so your users aren't forced to hunt down some lost password and there's no need to manually transfer your money. Customers simply checkout right on your site with any credit card and you get your funds right away. Your buyer receives an email receipt and you receive an email letting you know about the transaction. You also have an easy way to contact your buyers and follow up to answer questions and provide service. |
What are Stripe and Jotform?
Stripe is a secure online payment processing service whereby you can accept credit cards. There is no monthly fee and each purchase is charged a 2.9% + .30 cents per transaction fee (the industry standard – same as PayPal). When a sale is made the money is deposited into your bank account automatically in 3-5 business days. You access your Stripe account by logging in at www.stripe.com.
JotForm is a secure online form service whereby you can create all sorts of forms that integrate with Stripe and other payment processing services. JotForm's basic, branded service is free or you can pay $19 per month to remove the branding (which I recommend). Forms can be set up to send submissions to any email address – or several. You can view & download form submissions, edit existing forms and create new forms by logging in to your account at www.jotform.com.

How does it work?
- User makes a donation or purchase on your website with any credit card and gets a confirmation message.
- You get an email from JotForm with the purchase information including the buyer’s name, what they purchased (if a product) and the amount.
- You get an email from Stripe with the amount paid. Stripe will automatically deposit the money into your bank account 3-5 business days after the purchase. As with any transaction you may want to confirm this at the end of the month on your bank statement. Note that in many cases the transaction fees are tax deductible. Ask your tax preparer if that’s true for you.
- You can follow up with the buyer to thank them for their purchase and, if needed, provide a detailed receipt.
