Since 1997 I've been building custom html, xhtml, css-driven websites which are hosted on shared-server hosting plans. These are sites which require html editing software and ftp access to maintain. An intermediate-level knowledge of html and how websites work is required for working with these sites. I can handle maintenance and periodic updates on an as-needed basis for you or I can train you or your staff to work on the site using the industry standard tool of Dreamweaver.
Pros:
- If you already have inexpensive website hosting this type of site can be loaded onto an existing plan, keeping your hosting costs the same.
- Because the code is simple xhtml & css, these sites are 100% portable and can be loaded onto any hosting provider.
Cons:
- Unless you have a knowledge of website development and the necessary software, these sites are not user editable (although I can configure them so that parts such as the blog are).
- There is no ongoing code development. Once your site is built it remains the same until you actively request upgrades & updates.
